My Trixie bottle is leaking.
What should I do?
Don't worry, most leaks are easy to fix! Work through the checklist below step by step. If everything checks out and your bottle is still leaking, scroll down to the valve section, we'll point you in the right direction based on your bottle type.
step 1: general checks
This is the most common cause. Make sure the spout is pressed firmly downward until it clicks into place. Give the bottle a quick shake upside down over the sink to test. Nine times out of ten, this is all it takes.
Carbonated drinks build up pressure inside the bottle, which can cause the cap to pop open unexpectedly. We recommend only using still water in our bottles.
Check the cap and spout for any cracks, chips, or signs of wear. If you spot damage, the cap needs replacing. Head over to our valves section below to find out which valve and cap fits your bottle there are two versions and they're not interchangeable.
Unscrew the cap and look at the top of the screw thread. There should be a silicone ring that creates the watertight seal. If it has slipped out, press it back into the groove. If it's torn, stretched, or missing, a new cap will be needed.
After washing, give the ring a quick check to make sure it hasn't moved. It can occasionally work its way loose over time.
step 2: check the valve
If everything above checked out and the bottle is still leaking, the valve might be the issue. The valve is a small part inside the cap that controls the airflow and seal. Select your bottle below to find out what to do next.
stainless steel bottle (small valve)
you own a cap with a small valve
Make sure the small valve is still in place. If it's not, you're bottle will leak.
The small valve on the stainless steel bottle isn't available to order in our webshop. Send us an email at hello@trixie-baby.com with a photo of your bottle and the inside of your cap and we'll send the right replacement straight to your door by post.
stainless steel bottle (large valve)
you own a stainless steel bottle with the new large valve
In 2025 our caps and valves got an upgrade, to minimise the chance of losing the valve.
If you did lose your large valve or it's broken, a replacement valve is available directly in our webshop. Order it online and you'll be leak-free again in no time.
Tritan™ kids drinking bottle (valve)
you own a Tritan™ bottle
